I was sitting in church yesterday morning, feeling overwhelmed with the magnitude of what Christ's death and resurrection means. He conquered DEATH. He put an end to suffering, to sin, to Satan's grasp on our lives. That's BIG stuff. And then I started to to think about how in the midst of these HUGE and AMAZING things that Christ has done, He cares about the little things in our lives.
I was running around like crazy yesterday morning before church. We needed to leave at 8:15 in order to be there on time to get the kids checked in and to get a seat. Getting four kids up, fed, and dressed is not an easy feat! Add in getting ourselves dressed and fed, feeding Katelynn, and helping our two guests make sure they had everything they need and you can imagine how things were here. It was already after 8:15 and people were heading to the car. I hadn't eaten, but that could wait. What I really needed was to find Katelynn's socks. She has one pair that actually fits her and it was too chilly to take her without socks. I looked everywhere! I had searched her room, our room, and the laundry basket at least three times. I was getting frustrated. I went back to the basket of clean laundry that I had already looked through three times, started digging, and then stopped to pray. "Lord please just let me find her socks." About two seconds later I stick my hand in and there they were. So we left for church.
So as I sat in the service trying to comprehend the sacrifice that Christ made I started to think about the socks. And I started to tear up, knowing that even though in the great scheme of things a pair of little socks are absolutely nothing, He still cares. He cares if my little one stays warm. He cares about a little girl's socks. He has numbered each hair on our head. He knows the number of our days. We have a great God.

Easter weekend was good -- incredibly busy, but oh so good. The daughter of some friends of ours from Malaysia came down with a friend for spring break. They came in Saturday morning and are staying with us until Thursday. The kids LOVE having them here!
We worked on Saturday but then on Saturday night our boys went home for the night so we packed a picnic and headed for the park. Yesterday was busy with church, Easter baskets, pictures, lunch, and Easter egg hunt, and then a trip to the pool. I felt like I was running around all day! It was about 5 o'clock before I even looked at email for the day. It was a good weekend but I am glad it is over! I'm sure there will be more pictures in the next few days! But here is one of Alaina and her two new best friends!
Happy Monday!
What great writing, and you are so right - He cares about those little things - what a blessing! Cute cute photos!
