I should start by saying that my sweet husband, Jason, really dislikes "computer talk." I don't mean gigabytes, RAM, and EHD's. I mean, LOL, DH, TTYL, BRB, etc. The ones that really bother him are the ones he says we are lying about. Once, about 8 months ago, I typed somewhere ROFLOL! He says to me, "you aren't rolling on the floor laughing out loud. You are barely even laughing!" Well, I guess he has a point. I never used to like all the chat lingo either. I still don't use a ton except for A)When I am on HELLO because as my three HELLO buddies (waving big to Erika, Hollie, and Laura!) my typing is soooo bad when I type fast that it just helps to shorten things up a bit and B)When I need to convey emotion. If I always had a smilie or other such emoticon at my disposal, I wouldn't need to use an LOL. But sometimes I just feel I need the person on the other end of my words to know that I am smiling, that the words are lighthearted, etc. Anyway, all of this to say yesterday, I was ROTFLOL...literally.
I guess it helped that I was already on the floor. I don't think I have ever in my life actually laughed so hard that I fell from a standing position to the floor, writhing in giggles. But yesterday, I was sitting on the floor (probably with at least two little boys mistaking me for a Jungle Gym) and Alaina and I had the funniest conversation. Here goes:
A: Mommy, will you sit and watch Cinderella with us?
M: Well, I have a few emails I really need to respond to. Can I sit with on the couch AND bring my computer so I can write these emails (thank goodness for wireless DSL!)
A: Hmmm, well sure you can. You can watch a movie AND work on your puteo (her word for computer) because you are WOMAN. You can do two things at once!
Oh my goodness, I cannot tell you how hard I was laughing! At just shy of four she know the number one difference between men and women. This is a lesson that every woman out there needs to understand. Notice I didn't say, "learn." I think lots of women "learn" it but you need to UNDERSTAND it. Most men (I would say all but I am sure there are a few exceptions to this fundamental aspect of men) CANNOT DO MORE THAN ONE THING AT ONCE. HE MAY SAY HE CAN DO. HE MAY REALLY BELIEVE THAT HE CAN DO IT. BUT HE CANNOT. HE CANNOT DO TWO THINGS AT ONCE, MUCH LESS THREE. Learn from this women, and understand it. Do not expect hubby to change. Does it seem fair that you have to get FOUR people ready for church (you and three little ones) while hubby gets ONE person ready (um, that would be himself)? Does it seem reasonable that hubby should be able to listen to yet another thought on scrapbooking while AT THE SAME time look at gas prices along the highway? Sure. But no. He is not a woman. You are. So, politely tell him that YOU will find the cheapest gas while AT THE SAME TIME sharing your scrapping philosophy with him :) But don't be surprised if he STILL doesn't hear you because A) He probably doesn't care that much about your scrapping philosophy and B) Listening and driving are technically two separate activities and according to the male instruction manual, he cannot do both simultaneously. Live with it, ladies. He is wonderful in so many other ways :)
Okay, anyway, um, thanks for all the sweet comments about the template yesterday! I really enjoy sharing them and hope that they will inspire you to scrap more ~ not just collect more stuff! I have a bunch of templates coming out tomorrow so be sure to check in my shoppe and see what I have been playing with! I got to scrap with a few of them last night and it was fun. Especially since not everything I make is "my style". It stretches me to work with a template that isn't something I would ever come up with if I were starting with the papers and photos instead of the design. I love trying new things and I hope you will too! No peeks today but I will tell you which packs are coming out:
1. JUST FOR FUN #4 ~ I started this series at the very beginning. These templates are just fun and a bit quirky.
2. PRETTY PETALS #4 ~ Another series I started back in September when my shoppe opened. All of these templates have one thing in common -- FLOWERS!
3. HIP 2B SQUARE #2 ~ I started this series on my last release date and had a lot of fun with it. All of these template share the common feature of squares -- square photos, square paper, etc. So fun to play with!
4. PLAYING WITH PAPER #1 ~ This is a new series for me. My LO's almost always start with one piece of background paper. I am NOT good at using lots of different papers. And yet when I look at my scrapping magazines I am so amazed at the ways people get so many different papers on their pages (reminds me, I really need to order A DESIGNER'S EYE FOR SCRAPBOOKING WITH PATTERNED PAPER by Ali Edwards). These templates encourage and help the scrapper use all those beautiful papers that come in all the yummy kits we buy. I will admit, though, I already failed at this! I scrapped using one of these and I STILL have just one piece of paper in the back ...it is cut differently, but I am not good at mixing and matching. Teach me please!
Okay, here are some of the pages I did with the new templates. The KEEP TALKING lo I shared a few days ago is in the JUST FOR FUN pack.
Here are the other three:
Pretty Petals #4 ~
This uses the amazing Shabby Princess's ISLAND CHIC kit and that swirl I am addicted to by Tracy Ann!
HIP 2B SQUARE #2
Still can't decide if I like the quilted stitching or not ~ hmmm... Anyway, this uses MANDABEAN'S COME ON GET HAPPY kit as well as the glitter paint (recolored) from Meredith Fenwick's MAGICAL element set (you'll see the whole kit in a minute). Is that glitter paint not just BEST??
Playing with Paper #1
Meredith Fenwick's MAGICAL kit from her DAYDREAMS collection. Also used a swirl by Rhonna Farrer from her free New Years Eve kit at 2Peas.
So, that's it from me today. I got a late start this morning so I am a little behind. I want to get ALL my housework and ALL my design work done during the day because hubby and I are having date night tonight. Well actually, we are having date night in, which is just as nice! Grey's is on and we have a movie from Netflix on its way and I think I will make us a yummy snack to have! So, I better get busy.
Have a GREAT day and be sure to check in tomorrow for previews of the new template sets, pictures of all the fun crafts Alaina and I have been doing!
UT-oh!! Brian and I have this thing backwards I guess--because he is the one who can do not just two things at once, but probably ten-LOL!!! Yes, HE gets the kids and himself ready for church while I get myself ready. Well shhhh...don't tell him that this is the wrong way around!!!

Well, this post had me LOL! I did NOT fall out of my chair and onto the office floor, but I did chuckle! Amazing how a 4 year old totally understands this!
Can't wait to see the new templates tomorrow! I'm playing with the one from yesterday right now... well, that, and WORKING! Fortunately it is a Work From Home (WFH) day, so I can play and work at the same time. The beauty of digi - I never could paper scrap during a conference call!
Have a great day!!

Hey there Hello buddy! I'm sorry that I haven't been around much lately - I've been rushing around to get projects done at work and at home - but I promise to come find you and hunt you down very soon! The new templates are wonderful and I love that dreamer layout up above.

I just discovered your blog today, and enjoyed the latest entry so much I went ahead and read the whole page (all of January?). In fact, I'm looking forward to returning when I have a chance to read your archives as well! How wonderful to hear how much you enjoy being a mom. Hearing about your littles reminds me of when my oldest ones were about that age - the dancing around to music, sitting in laundry baskets, fighting over toys, etc. And my 5yo says "actually" all the time too! What's up with that? Does Dora say it??
Anyway, just wanted to say hi, and thank you for your template.
I'll be back!
