...but hanging in there!
We arrived in Nebraska yesterday. To a HOT Nebraska. We're talking about over 100 degrees. And unfortunately, they didn't get our central air installed yet so I have been dripping! THere is a window unit in one of the rooms but the internet connection isn't there and we don't have a wireless router yet. Sooo... I'm dripping in the living room.
Anyway, let's see if my post I did the other day will load better this time. That wil prevent me from having to rewrite everything (and bore you to tears.)
Here goes... (THIS IS FROM A FEW DAYS AGO)
I’m still alive…I promise. It is hard to believe it has been almost three weeks since I last posted on my blog. Sooooo sorry to those faithful readers of mine. I knew we would be busy visiting family and friends but I don’t think I had any idea just how busy we would be. I feel like we’ve spent half the time in the car! Thankfully, one of the great things that has happened over the last few weeks is that DH bought me a laptop. So….I’m portable! And this baby is AWESOME…2gb of RAM, duo processor, 17in widescreen, great Toshiba screen quality. LOVE it! He also bought me a Wacom. Isn’t he sweet? Actually, the sweetest thing he did is scrap! For those of you who have a Wacom tablet…you know the part of the tablet where you can slip in a photo? Well, he digi scrapped me a sweet card to go in there. Here it is… It took him like two days but it was just soooo sweet of him. I love being supported in this hobby of mine! And, I am glad that he sees the value in it. So…back to being busy. We have been here, there, and everywhere! And since we needed a car to do all this traveling…we bought a minivan! We didn’t need a car living in Malaysia so it’s been a few years since we’ve owned car. We don’t have much money so we weren’t sure what the best route to go was for a new vehicle. Buy used? Lease new? Car? Mini-van? In the end we bought a used minivan, even older than we had planned. But we were in Northern Michigan visiting friends and there was a used car lot right next to our hotel. We looked in and saw this great looking green Ford Windstar. It had a bunch of miles on it but we cheap and in good condition. So, we decided to go for it. It has been great. We love having all the room inside and so far we haven’t had any problems. We are very thankful. So, that’s where we are. We’re in our new minivan and I am preparing my blog entry on my new laptop. What fun. We’ll stay at a hotel with Wi-Fi tonight so I can post this. Okay…so, we had 2 and a half weeks in Michigan. We traveled up north for a few days, we went to Grand Rapids for a few days, we went to Lansing a few times. And we just had some fun time with family. I barely even scrapped while we were there. Thankfully, I told all my designers that I would be super busy till mid-August so I don’t feel TOO guilty about not scrapping much. I just really needed some down time to be with family and get things settled for our move. Speaking of design teams….look HERE to see my super-duper TOTALLY unexpected awesome news! I got a PM from Kristie saying, “Email me when you get a chance,” I about died because I was sooooo hoping it was what I was hoping it was!! So, although I am super busy there was NO WAY I would ever want to turn that opportunity down. And I have had soooo much fun with her new goodies. NOTE…stay with me and I promise there will be pictures and LO’s/=) So, after 2 and a half weeks in Michigan and then we left last weekend for Madison, Wisconsin for my little (well, younger) sister’s wedding. She was such a BEAUTIFUL bride. Seriously, everything you think about when you think of weddings…this was it. Gorgeous wedding, incredible dress, fun reception, everything. It was a little weird since 1) I had never met her fiancé, and 2) I hadn’t seen any of my family for over a year. Our reunion was at the rehearsal at the church! The wedding was a blast and Alaina made a GORGEOUS flower girl! She and her cousin Audrey stole the show! And at the reception, Alaina danced her little heart out. I don’t think she ever left the dance floor! See some great shots… After the wedding, we drove up to northern Wisconsin to Door County where my dad rented a huge beach house for the week. All of us (minus sister and new hubby) spend a week on the beach hanging out. It was a lot of fun and was very restful (something we REALLY needed! One of the fun things I got to do was to take some family pictures of their family. The next day she took a few of us since we didn’t have ONE picture of all five of us. Not even from the wedding! So, we left this morning from the beach house and now are en route to Nebraska where we will now be living. It is fun and exciting and I suppose a little scary. Our housing comes with our job so we don’t pick where we live (it’s been like that every place we have worked). But this time, we haven’t even seen pictures of our apartment yet! So, we’ll arrive tomorrow to a house we have never seen and call it “home.” Oh well. If I have learned anything living overseas and by watching many American families…big beautiful homes do not equal happiness. Not that it is bad to have big beautiful homes but they cannot make you happy. Happy families make happy people. And I LOVE my ‘lil family more than I could ever express so I don’t really care in the end what my house looks like. As long as we are together, we’ll we happy. Okay, I could go on forever but I am sure you are tired of reading. I’ll share some LO’s I’ve done (the ones that are on this computer) and I’ll leave you with the promise that I’ll be back to blogging on a regular basis. Have a great day! Shabby Princess Eclectic Collage Digital Design Essentials (Gina Cabrera) SLice of Summer Another SP Eclectic Collage Mindy Teresawa's LOVE BIRDS Ronna Penner's FUNKALISCIOUS Bunch of stuff here...mostly Gina Cabrera and Michelle Coleman, though. MandaBean's GRAB IT WHILE IT'S HOT Okay...there are more but I'll save them for later. I have a bunch by Meredith Fenwick from her PERSONALITY COLLECTION. Have a great day! *** End of previous post *** Okay, onto today. Back to being hot. I am still sweating like crazy so this might be a short post. So, we got to our new place. Differernt from what I expected...some things better, some things not as nice, but all in all I think we will be happy. It REALLY helps to know for certain that God called us here. Sometimes we have been places where we knew God was with us but it was more of a "we could have gone here and we could have gone there and God would have blessed either decision." But this is definately an experience of knowing 100% that God was in this and for SOME reason, this is the place He has chosen for us. So, we're excited to get moved in and settle and then get ready for our dorm students to arrive in two weeks. Okay, that's about it for tonight. NEED SLEEP. AND AIR CONDITIONING. But, there is some awesome news that I promised. TOMORROW. And it is super fun news (scrapping related).
IT DID NOT TAKE ME TWO DAYS MORE ACCURATELY, IT WAS TWO EVENINGS. ABOUT 3 HOURS EACH EVENING, SO 6 HOURS I GUESS THAT IS REALLY LONG TIME. ALOT OF THE TIME WAS SPENT TRYING TO FIGURE OUT A WAY TO GET MY HAND WRITING ON THE CHALK BOARD USING THE WACOM. IN THE END MY DEAR WIFE CAME IN SHOWED ME HOW TO DO IN ABOUT 5 MIN. LOVE YA JASON
