I hope that all of you have a wonderful, wonderful Mother's Day. Feel proud of what you do. Being a mom is the hardest (and one of the most rewarding) things I have done. Enjoy your family today!
Mother's Day is actually coming to an end on my side of the world. We've had to work so we haven't been able to do much, but it has still been nice. Alaina made Mother's Day presents in school on Friday and of course she couldn't wait to give them to me so I got them a few days ago. So sweet...lilies made out of straws, pipe cleaners, and cut outs of her little hands.
A few years ago Jason started some gift traditions from him and the kids. He usually gets me a gift certificate for a massage. I decided not to do that this year since I am nurisng and I don't know how comfortable I would be lying on my belly for an hour. And since I am still saving all my holiday gifts for a new camera, Jason gave me a cheap (but wonderful gift.) He knows how much I love alone time and hot baths...so Alaina and Jason pulled me off the computer (where I was being way too productive for Mother's Day) and walked me into my bathroom where they had drawn me a hot bath (complete with aromatherapy bath oils), had tons of candles lit, fresh orchids in a vase, and Enya on the stereo. It was wonderful! I was in the tub thinking how sometimes the best gifts are free.
Alaina always gives me a coffee shop gift card so we're off sometime this week for a fun coffee date at Coffee Bean.
Caleb always takes me to Pizza Hut for lunch so I have that to look forward to this week, too.
And we have yet to determine whether Levi's gift will be a tradition. This year I got a new coffee mug (I collect them). It is a Dalat mug which is great since I dont' have one yet and we are leaving Dalat in a month. I think I have mugs from everywhere I have worked.
So, all in all it was been a fun (and sweet) day. Speaking of sweet, I was in my room the other day getting dressed and I looked over at the bed and saw this. I love my boys!
So, I told you the other day that I was making some cards (you know, the whole glue-on-the-dining-room-table incident?) Well, here they are. I was inspired a a lady at 2peas who made an altered CD album. So, I figured I'd give it a shot using CD's...juse for something a little different. So first I made this as a cover for the CD's.
Then I put glued these on a CD and glued the CD into a card.
Then I tied on a ribbon and tag and called them done!
In other art news... some LO's for you.
I did FOUR layouts yesterday! I did one for Lynn Grieveson's design team (I just started on her team this week). I love her stuff because of all the depth and texture. I want to run my hands over it! This is from Lynn's ISLAND WINDS paper set, available at SBE.
The next three came together REALLY fast. I wanted to get a bunch of my dorm kid pages done. So, in between eveything else yesterday afternoon I got these together.
And then I did a FAST and SWEET one of Alaina when I was up early this morning.
And one more sweet thing to leave you with...I am sure I will scrap this picture soon. So small...
Have a great day...stay tuned to see if I move on to round 3 in the Ultimate Digi Scrapper contest. One hundred people aren't moving on so we'll see what happens. There are SO MANY talented scrappers out there. And this week's challenge was so hard for most of us. We had to do a page with the theme, "Through My Eyes." We were supposed to scrap about how we view ourselves through our own eyes. This was challenging for so many of us. As scrappers, we often look at others but we rarely stop to think about, take pictures of, or scrap about ourelves. Wow. And in case you missed it, you can see my layout here. Or, you can see the whole week 2 gallery here.
Happy Mother's day! Your kids sure are blessed to have you as a mother, you are so dedicated, loving, patient and caring. Great LOs . . . I've been gone all weekend so I'll have to examine them in depth later.
