Since I have had NO TIME to do much of anything fun, like blogging, I have all these thins put away in the back of my mind with a "that would be good to mention on my blog" sticky note attached. However, after a few days of this I would be here all night typing instead of sleeping. And we all know how much I need to sleep. And so, I will be brief and HOPEFULLY life will return to a normal pace and I can come chat here on a daily basis.
So, as usual, I have been busy. BUT, I will say, that although I hate being as busy as I have been, I DO feel good that I have accomplished some things. Saturday was my ultra-productive day. I started the day by making what I thought to be a very realistic (read: get a few things done and still have time to scrap) list of things to do. Usually when I get in the "I am going to get soooo much stuff done today" mood I make this gigantic list that never, ever, nears completion. I just underestimate how long things will take me and how many interruptions I will have in the process. SO, on Saturday I tried to be realistic. I thought, "Hmmm, it will feel good to have these things done and then I won't feel guilty for scrapping." You want to know what time I got done with all of these things? Eleven p.m. Yep. And I really worked all day. Well, I wasn't working on just these things all day but I sure never sat down and did anything fun. I still took care of my kiddos, read stories, made food, hung out with the dorm, etc. But I am proud to say that everything on my list got a check mark next to it. And yes, it does feel good. So, you ask, what did I get done??
1. Went to the Jasbeanie chat. I am on Jasbeanie's (Jasmine Low's) Creative Team and I really wanted to be at her online chat to support her. Normally, I can't go to chats because they are all on Saturday night (EST) and that means Sunday morning here, which means Church. Luckily for me, Jasmine is in Singapore and she goes to church too, so she had hers Friday night (EST) which was Saturday morning here. It was fun and I was glad to be a part of it. And I loved getting some new goodies to play with!
2. I finally made and wrote Thank You cards for some of the women that I work with who threw me a baby shower when we were in KL. These are such sweet ladies and I didn't want to just do something small and plain to say thank you. So, I pulled out the 'ol craft box, bought some new cardstock and ribbons, and made what are in my opinion, very pretty thank you cards. As much as I love my computer and all my digital work, I must admit it was really fun to work with my hands again. But, no, I will NEVER go back to paper scrapping. Do you have any idea how long these took me??
Lots of work, but lots of fun!
3. Wrote my grandmother (and printed out and sent pictures of the kids). I know that this does not seem like a monumental task, but I tell you, in a world of email and web posting, getting out stationary, a good pen, seeing my own handwriting, and actually printing out photos to share, this task can seem a little daunting. But it was SO OVERDUE. My oh my, I hadn't even sent a thank you for Christmas gifts yet. And as hard as this all is for me, there is no way my 97 year old grandmother is getting email anytime soon so I better just get used to it. She is so sweet to send cards and gifts for the kids so the LEAST I can do is send some pictures now and then! Bad Janet!
4. Taxes. Yep, finished 'em. The crazy thing is, I did my rough draft like TWO MONTHS ago and just never got around to doing the final draft, attaching W2's, photocopying and sending the whole thing in. And you would think I would have been anxious to do this since we're getting money back. Sheesh!
5. Sent a congrats card to friends. Yea, well, talk about OVERDUE! Our friends had a baby like two weeks ago and I hadn't even sent an email to say congratulations. Ugghh. I just kept thinking that I wanted to make them a nice card and that I would say congrats when I got the card done. Well, you all know what kind of time I have, so that didn't seem to happen until this weekend. Luckily I think I am forgiven =)
6. Went through the kids clothes. Okay, talk about MONUMENTAL! And once again, OVERDUE. I soooo needed to clean out the kids drawers and wardrobes and pull out all of the too-small stuff. I mean seriously, Caleb still had clothes in his drawer that were for 6-9 months. Um, hello? He will be TWO in May! Okay, granted, his 'lil waist is still so small that his 12 month stuff fits, but still. I was seriously slacking in this area. So, I went through all the drawers and then I went through all the tubs of kids clothes we have, reorganized them by size and sex, and repacked them. What a task! And of course, Alaina was all-too-eager to help me so it took like five times longer than it should have. But, it feels sooooo good to have it done and now their drawers are all neat and organized and we finally have room for new stuff. And, now everything is organized so when we find out what this next little one will be, all I have to do is find the appropriate bag (size and sex) and we are ready to go!
7. I FINALLY PRINTED OUT SOME LAYOUTS! YEA FOR ME! After doing all this digi-scrapping, I felt like I really should print some out to see what they look like! People always ask to see them printed and I never have anything to show them. So remember those IKEA frames I bought a few weeks ago? Well, they are ALL FILLED! Not that I have anywhere to hang them, but that's okay, because at least they aren't empty. I just printed little 5.5" x 5.5" LO's and put them in the frames. It was fun to do and fun to see what they look like "in real life." The coloring (especially the blues) was off, but I just used the color laser printer here at school. For my albums, I'll take them to a photo developer and get them done on a good quality matte paper. But for now....
Oh, the beauty of digital. I can print these things just as many times as I want! Okay, and now for my favorite frames. These babies are from IKEA and they hold TEN pictures each (five on each side). I just LOVE THEM! Now I just need to find a place to hang them!
I did one set of frames for each kid (both sides are pictured here.)
Okay, almost done. No new regular LO's today but I did get two more of my MEET MY DORM KIDS (FOCUS ON ME) pictures done for our dorm website. Here they are:
Oh wait, maybe I do have a new LO. I don't think I have posted this one here...I did this last week some time. It's a 2-pager. Enjoy!
Good night!
